Wrought iron processing is an ancient tradition of Italian craftsmanship that never goes out of style.

The manufacturing process has its roots in very distant centuries, when, especially in Florence, an important development of what can be defined as a real art began, starting around 1200. The single element of iron, usually a rod with a round, square or rectangular section is brought to high temperatures, crushed between the anvil and the hammer and subsequently forged thanks to the skill of the blacksmith, who with the force and with the help of specific machinery is able to transform it from metal raw in a unique work.

The tradition of wrought iron processing in Ficulle has a Tuscan imprint, both in the style of processing and in the type of products made, probably reflecting influences that derive from the nearby Casentino area, where this art has always been highly developed. Here the wrought iron finds great application in the service of the building to embellish houses both in the countryside and in the village with grates, railings and gates.
