Piero Antinori

Piero Antinori is one of the most famous figures in the world of wine, not only in Italy but all over the world, owner of the Marchesi Antinori Spa, to which the famous Castello della Sala di Ficulle also belongs.

He was born in Pelago (Florence) in 1938 and graduated in Economics and Commerce. In 1966 he took on the role of CEO of the family business, those Antinori who have been winemakers for over six centuries and of which he represents the 25th generation.

Animated by a great vision, the main merit of having wanted and been able to undertake a path of rebirth and re-legitimation of the Chianti Classico, in a historical moment in which the production of this wine was strongly in crisis, and, thanks to the partnership with the famous winemaker Renzo Cotarella, the bet on the quality of white wine production in this area of ​​Umbria and in Ficulle in particular.

In over half a century of work in the wine sector, Piero Antinori has not only given the impetus to the growth of his company, but, by investing in geographical areas devoted to the production of quality wine, has also taken on a leading role in the processes of historical enhancement. -cultural in many Tuscan and Umbrian territories.

Ficulle was lucky enough to be one of these territories. Here, too, Antinori has relaunched agricultural production, making it the home of prestigious wines famous all over the world and collaborating with the institutions to safeguard and enhance historical and architectural heritage such as the Castello della Sala.

Over the years it has established a deep and sincere bond with the territory, which in a television broadcast a few years ago defined a blessed land for the production of great wines.

Since 2017 he has been an honorary citizen of Ficulle.
