The village of Ficulle has had a strong agricultural vocation since ancient times. As is typical of much of Umbria, arable crops and productions are not based on large quantities, due to the characteristic division of the territories into small and medium-sized farms, but produce high-quality products.
Wheat
Wheat has always been widely grown in the area. In recent years, particular attention has been paid to the cultivation of ancient grains mainly in the hard Senatore Capelli and tender Verna varieties, which are marketed in the form of stone-ground flour or already processed into dried and fresh pasta.
Spelled
The production of spelled is also interesting, probably the oldest cereal produced in the area and handed down directly to us by the Etruscan populations who first populated the area. Spelled, mainly produced in an organic version, is marketed in the dehulled version, in the form of flour or processed into dry pasta.
Legumes
The production of legumes also underlines the link with the Etruscan population, continuing to perpetuate the traditional cultivation of chickpeas, beans, lentils and broad beans that were the basis of the diet of the time. Chickpeas, beans and lentils are the basis of various typical dishes and are mainly marketed in dried form. The cultivation of broad beans, although very widespread, tends to be for family use.
